Job Description

Compton Community College District is seeking an innovative individual focused on student learning for a full‑time, tenure‑track position in Commercial Music. Duties include teaching classes, related activities, student office hours, curriculum development, student learning outcomes and assessment, annual program planning, and program review. The position may require teaching during day, evening, weekends, and at high‑school locations. Selected candidates will interview and give a teaching demonstration on an assigned topic.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years’ professional experience OR Associate of Arts Degree and 6 years’ professional experience OR equivalent; must explain equivalency if qualifications differ.
  • Valid California community college instructor credential issued prior to July 1 1990 (per California Education Code 87355).
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of college students.
Desired Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Music.
  • Recent community college teaching experience.
  • Ability to develop effective teaching techniques and assessment methods.
  • Ability to engage student interest across learning styles.
  • Proficiency in instructional technology.
  • Collaboration with faculty and college on institutional, divisional, and campus‑wide programs.
  • Cultivation of partnerships with industry members and advisory committees.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
Compensation and Benefits

Salary range: $61,995 – $126,357 (dependent on education and experience).
