Job Overview
This position assists with the administration of the Financial Aid office, providing training, guidance, and supervision to staff to enable students to apply for and receive financial aid. The supervisor ensures compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in management, administration, and coordination of all Financial Aid Office activities.
- Supervise, train, and provide direction and guidance to assigned personnel.
- Coordinate clerical, technical, and professional operations of the office.
- Oversee the comprehensive financial aid computer system and related programs, including updating the Financial Aid website.
- Provide leadership and support for complex technical and regulatory financial aid functions.
- Monitor and review work of technical staff to ensure compliance and accuracy with applicable state and federal policies.
- Coordinate verification of student enrollment prior to disbursement.
- Advise students and staff on matters related to financial aid, scholarships, and grants.
- Explain application procedures, rules, and regulations, and counsel students to resolve issues.
- Maintain current knowledge of federal and state rules and policies related to student financial aid programs.
- Interpret and implement procedural changes as required.
- Compile information and prepare various financial aid reports for state and federal agencies.
- Maintain cooperative relationships with campus departments, governmental agencies, financial institutions, and other colleges.
- Promote benefits of financial aid programs to students and the community.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, majoring in Business, Public Administration, or a closely related field, plus three years of progressively responsible experience managing a diverse financial aid program, including one year of supervisory experience. Knowledge of financial aid software programs is required.
Physical DemandsRegularly required to sit, use hands for keyboarding and typing, and handle materials. May occasionally stand and walk. Regularly required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds. Work environment noise level is usually quiet.
