About the Role
As a Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one‑on‑one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
DetailsWe are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Compton, CA.
- In‑Person Tutoring in Compton, CA
- Schedule:
25 hours a month; 4 sessions a week for 1.25 hours - Pay rate ranges from $25‑$35 per hour
- Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and diverse learning needs
- Strong knowledge of foundational literacy instruction, including phonemic awareness, phonics, sight words, and reading development
- Patient, encouraging, and skilled at building student confidence
- Comfortable providing structured, explicit, and repetitive instruction
- Familiar with multi‑sensory teaching strategies for early readers
- Able to support handwriting development and fine motor skill practice
- Skilled at creating engaging lessons that maintain student motivation and participation
- Understanding of how memory and retention challenges impact learning
- Able to incorporate student interests into instruction to increase engagement
- Strong communication and progress‑monitoring skills
- Provide individualized instruction in foundational literacy skills
- Teach phonemic awareness, letter‑sound correspondence, blending, decoding, and sight word recognition
- Support reading fluency and comprehension through structured and scaffolded instruction
- Reinforce handwriting skills, including letter formation, spacing, and written output
- Utilize multi‑sensory and evidence‑based literacy strategies to support skill acquisition and retention
- Build student confidence through positive reinforcement, achievable goals, and consistent encouragement
- Adapt instruction to accommodate memory, retention, and processing challenges
- Incorporate the student’s interests, including video games, biking, and skateboarding, to increase motivation and engagement
- Maintain a supportive, structured, and low‑pressure learning environment that promotes success
