Director Of Advanced Academics
Under the direction of the Superintendent or designee, the Director of Advanced Academics provides visionary leadership and system-wide coordination of the district's Advanced Academics portfolio (grades 6–12), with a primary focus on expanding access to Advanced Placement (AP), increasing AP exam performance, and building a coherent, high-quality instructional model across all advanced coursework. This role is central to ensuring that high-potential students are identified early, developed intentionally, and retained within district pathways, including Early College High Schools, AP programs, and other advanced learning opportunities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
A. California clear single subject teaching credential
B. California Administrative Services Credential
C. Master's degree required (Doctorate preferred)
D. Minimum of five (5) years of successful experience teaching Advanced Placement courses, Adwith demonstrated evidence of:
• Consistently strong AP exam pass rates (3+)
• High levels of AP student participation and exam completion
• Ability to develop students' analytical writing, problem-solving, and college-level thinking skills
E. Successful experience as a secondary site administrator (assistant principal or principal) or district-level leader
F. Demonstrated success in:
• Expanding AP or advanced academic programs at scale
• Increasing student achievement and AP performance outcomes across diverse student groups
• Leading instructional improvement efforts tied to measurable results G.
Preferred Experience:
• Experience leading or coordinating AP programs, Early College programs, or advanced academic pathways at the site or district level
• Experience designing or leading professional development for AP teachers
• Experience with master scheduling to increase equitable access to advanced coursework
• Experience building middle school to high school academic pipelines (grades 6–12)
