Position: Teacher - Substitute, #1321: Ingenium Barack Obama Charter School, Compton, CA

Multiple Subject K-5th Grade Substitute Teacher

This position will serve as a substitute teacher for any short or long term teacher absences. This person must be flexible, willing and able to teach a range of grade levels, students, and subjects.

Key contributions include supporting the mission, vision, and core values of Ingenium Schools, striving to implement Ingenium Schools' philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives in connection with Ingenium's Signature Practices, continuously maintaining and improving professional competence, and attending mandatory trainings, professional meetings, and educational conferences, as required.

Classroom culture involves building relationships with all students that demonstrate mutual respect and compassion, encouraging students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior, measuring progress through individual and class goal setting, involving students in the process of the classroom including creating a class Code of Cooperation, creating classroom procedures, and conflict resolution strategies, creating a safe, developmentally appropriate classroom environment conducive to learning and based on student interests and goals, incorporating restorative justice and PBIS practices and implementing social emotional learning curriculum, implementing and supporting school/organizational policies governing student life and conduct, and utilizing educational technology including Google Apps for Education to enhance learning experiences.

Academic responsibilities include lesson planning, completing and entering student grades, and attending all department and teacher meetings for long-term assignments, designing, implementing, and monitoring the learning experiences of each student during long term assignments, implementing absent teacher lesson plans with fidelity for short term and day to day teaching assignments, instructing students individually and in groups using various teaching methods, adapting teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' differing needs and interests, supporting intervention programs for students requiring extra help, establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicating those objectives to students daily during long term assignments, preparing materials and classroom for class activities for long term assignments, planning and supervising class projects, field trips, and guiding students in learning activities, as requested or required.

Data driven responsibilities include consistently and accurately observing and assessing students' academic performance, behavior, social development, and physical health, both formally and informally, through observation, formative assessment, and written evaluation, providing frequent and timely feedback to students and parents on student progress, recommending resources to parents for additional student growth, as needed, timely delivering accurate and complete written and oral progress reports, maintaining accurate and complete student records as required by law and Ingenium Schools' policies, maintaining individual and class goal folders to set learning goals and action plans and track learning process, and maintaining student confidentiality.

Collaboration responsibilities include conferring with students and parents outside of the instructional day to resolve students' behavioral and/or academic issues, as needed, maintaining and improving professional competence and participating in professional development opportunities, actively participating in team meetings and serving on staff committees, school-wide events, parent workshops, and community partnership events, assisting with school/organizational events, general supervision, extra-curricular support, tutoring, etc.,
