About the Position

Program Leaders play a vital role in supporting student success within the Compton Unified School District Expanded Learning Program. Under the direct supervision of an assigned Certificated Site Program Manager, Program Leaders provide academic support, supervision, and enrichment opportunities for students enrolled in the after-school program.

Working with students in groups of up to a 25:1 ratio, Program Leaders create a safe, engaging, and positive learning environment by providing tutoring, facilitating enrichment activities, and serving as positive role models. They motivate students to learn while offering individualized and small-group academic support to help students build confidence, strengthen their skills, and achieve success both in and out of the classroom.

This is a part-time, non-exempt, non-benefited position.

Position Information

Employment at Toro Auxiliary Partners is on an at-will basis and can be terminated by either an employee or Toro Auxiliary Partners at any time with or without cause or advanced notice. Permanent status can neither be obtained nor granted.

Hourly Rate: $23.00 per hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate daily student attendance records.
  • Supervise and ensure the safety of 20–25 students during program hours.
  • Provide academic support and enrichment by implementing the program curriculum with fidelity.
  • Support students individually and in small-group settings to promote academic success.
  • Receive and follow directions for assigned activities and responsibilities.
  • Foster a safe, organized, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
  • Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating professionalism, enthusiasm, and a commitment to student success.
  • Collaborate and communicate professionally with program staff, instructional staff, parents, students, and community members.
  • Report attendance, incidents, and other relevant information to the Certificated Site Program Manager and CSUDH program staff in a timely manner.
  • Attend and actively participate in all required trainings and staff meetings.
  • Apply effective instructional and behavior management strategies learned through training.
  • Adhere to all workplace safety policies, procedures, and district guidelines.
  • Maintain reliable attendance, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 48 semester units at an institution of higher education is required, or have earned a bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working with students at any educational level
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to plan and implement lesson plans and enrichment activities, as needed.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, dependability, initiative, and a positive attitude at all times.
  • Must have reliable transportation to consistently report to the assigned worksite on time.
