Part-Time Instructor - Culinary Arts
Under general supervision of the Dean of Business and Industrial Studies, the Culinary Arts Instructor will provide curriculum and equipment recommendations, develop on‑job training apprenticeship partnerships, and train and support students in the Culinary Arts program. This position requires an understanding of techniques that facilitate adult learning styles and varying teaching modalities.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree or higher plus at least two years of experience in culinary arts/food technology.
- Associate's degree plus at least six years of experience in culinary arts/food technology.
- Current Serv Safe Managers Certification (or equivalent).
- Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of college students, and of individuals with disabilities.
- Encourage positive race‑consciousness and embracing of human differences.
- Strategically build support for and participation in equity‑related initiatives across both internal and external communities.
- Promote the importance of holding ourselves accountable as educators for closing equity gaps and engaging in equitable practices.
- Support institutional practices that develop and sustain culturally responsive teaching and learning environments.
- Three or more years of paid teaching experience.
Hourly range: $41.28 – $72.27 (depending on education and experience). Part‑time faculty members are compensated on a semester basis according to the number of class hours assigned per semester and cumulative semesters of instruction for the District.
Conditions of EmploymentPart‑time teaching assignment(s). Offer and acceptance of employment is subject to verification of all information provided on the employment application, credential(s), transcripts, fingerprint results, and tuberculosis examination as required. Candidates selected for employment will need to provide verification of work authorization in the form of a passport, valid driver’s license, or other equivalent identification, and social security card.
