Summary:The Carrier Procurement role is responsible for developing strategic carrier relationships while securing reliable, cost-effective transportation capacity that supports exceptional customer service and profitable growth. This position partners closely with Operations, Customer Success, and Sales to execute procurement strategies, strengthen STG's carrier network, and deliver industry-leading service. Success in this role requires strong negotiation skills, market awareness, operational discipline, and a commitment to building long-term carrier partnerships
What You'll Do:- Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing carrier partners to expand STG's transportation network.
- Source competitive transportation capacity while balancing service, cost, and profitability objectives.
- Negotiate rates and transportation solutions that support customer expectations and company financial goals.
- Manage carrier performance by ensuring on-time service, shipment visibility, and proactive communication throughout the shipment lifecycle.
- Identify opportunities to grow carrier participation across multiple lanes, regions, and customer portfolios.
- Partner with Operations, Customer Success, and Sales to support customer growth, service recovery, and capacity planning.
- Resolve carrier issues, claims, and accessorial while maintaining positive long-term relationships.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, strengthen carrier partnerships, and enhance the customer experience.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and transportation industry experience.
- 2+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, freight brokerage, or carrier procurement preferred.
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Experience using transportation management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with Parade, Revenova, McLeod, Mercury Gate, or similar transportation platforms.
- Experience working with truckload carriers and developing carrier relationships.
- Knowledge of digital freight matching, shipment visibility platforms, and transportation technology.
- Understanding of market pricing, capacity planning, and carrier performance metrics.
- Experience supporting strategic customer freight or dedicated capacity programs.
