Director Of Carrier Procurement

The Director of Carrier Procurement is responsible for leading STG Logistics' carrier procurement strategy while building a high-performing organization that delivers reliable capacity, exceptional service, and profitable growth. This role provides leadership across carrier procurement, strategic carrier development, technology adoption, and operational excellence while partnering closely with Operations, Customer Success, Pricing, and Commercial Sales. The Director will develop scalable processes, strengthen strategic carrier partnerships, and create a culture centered on accountability, continuous improvement, and customer success.
What You'll Do:
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing Carrier Procurement organization.
- Develop and execute carrier procurement strategies that support company growth, profitability, and customer service objectives.
- Build and strengthen strategic carrier partnerships while expanding dedicated capacity and drop trailer programs.
- Establish performance expectations, KPIs, and accountability across the procurement organization.
- Partner with Sales, Customer Success, Operations, and Pricing to support strategic customer growth and enterprise initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement through process optimization, automation, and technology adoption.
- Leverage transportation technology platforms, carrier visibility tools, and AI solutions to improve productivity and decision making.
- Monitor freight market conditions and adjust procurement strategies to maintain competitive capacity.
- Lead carrier sourcing strategies supporting customer implementations, large RFPs, and strategic bids.
- Analyze operational and financial performance to improve procurement efficiency, service execution, and profitability.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and leadership development across the organization.
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and industry experience.
- 8+ years of transportation, logistics, or freight brokerage experience.
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing carrier procurement or carrier sales organizations.
- Demonstrated success developing high-performing teams and future leaders.
- Strong understanding of truckload procurement, carrier development, pricing, and market dynamics.
- Experience leading organizational change and process improvement initiatives.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Parade, Revenova, McLeod, Mercury Gate, or comparable transportation technology platforms.
- Experience implementing digital procurement strategies and workflow automation.
- Experience leading nearshore or offshore procurement teams.
- Experience developing dedicated capacity and drop trailer programs.
- Experience supporting enterprise customer RFPs and strategic procurement initiatives.
Compensation & Benefits Information:
- Salary Range: $119,700 - $170,980
- Bonus Eligible
