Purchasing Buyer
Reviews and analyzes purchase requisitions for completeness and accuracy of information; contacts departments to clarify or complete information; determines method to process the requisition based on dollar amount, timeliness required, existing contracts and/or competitive bidding.
Identifies and selects vendor to procure required supplies and/or materials, based on price, quantity, quality and delivery, and places the orders.
Identifies requesting departments needs and develops specifications for supplies and/or equipment.
Assists departments in creating requisitions, and orders, and solves problems with orders.
Prepares bid specifications, issues bid requests, and reviews quotations.
Resolves purchasing problems between department and vendor.
Assists Sr. Buyer or Purchasing Manager with negotiations and/or more technical purchases as requested.
Qualifications GuidelinesExperience/Training/Education:
Required: High School Diploma, GED or equivalent and 1 year related experience.
Desirable: Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment. AS 400 experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and vendors.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Knowledge for purchasing practices and procedures.
Must have knowledge of Internet Software, Inventory software, Order processing systems, Spreadsheet Software and word Processing Software. ASI/AS 400 experience a plus.
Ability to rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
Physical and Environmental Elements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee generally works indoors within the office and manufacturing areas. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
MIN: $31 to $35 per hour
