Pay Range

The starting pay range for this position per hour is $24.75 - $26.75. The full pay range is $24.75 - $42.05. Pay is based on factors such as labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications.

ALL ABOUT ASSETS PROTECTION

Assets Protection (AP) teams keep guests, team members, and the brand secure and manage crisis events. They mitigate theft and fraud risks, ensure product availability, and build relationships with store leaders and public safety officials.

Role Overview

As an Assets Protection Specialist, you use surveillance, intelligence‑led tactics, and Target’s video system to keep the store safe, prevent losses, and maintain a positive guest experience.

Responsibilities
  • Use Target’s video surveillance system to monitor guests and identify potential theft risks.
  • Implement AP practices and routines to reduce and prevent loss.
  • Document cases properly and effectively.
  • Identify strategic resolutions of external theft and fraud, and conduct apprehensions when appropriate.
  • Create an easy, inspiring, and friendly guest experience by greeting guests, assisting them with product location, and ensuring smooth transactions.
  • Support team members and peers in other areas while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Adjust to business and guest needs to deliver an easy and inspiring guest experience.
  • Support total store sales, guest service, and profitability by ensuring product is available and by preventing and resolving theft.
  • Resolve theft by using good judgment and conducting apprehensions in shortage focus areas while strictly adhering to AP policies and procedures.
  • Identify theft trends using technology, reporting, and surveillance tactics.
  • Prevent theft by gathering intelligence and communicating important issues.
  • Respond to security incidents and submit appropriate documentation following AP policy and procedures.
  • Promote a physical security and safety culture by creating awareness and training safe and secure standards.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times; comply with safety policies and report hazards.
  • Maintain positive work relationships with public safety officials and law enforcement.
  • Participate in legal proceedings as necessary to represent Target’s interests.
  • Perform any other duties based on business needs.
What We Are Looking For

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Meet any state or local licensure or legal requirements related to the position.

  • Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology equipment.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Can work independently and as part of a team.

  • Climbs up and down ladders.
  • Apprehends subjects in accordance with company policy.
  • Scans, handles, and moves merchandise efficiently and safely, including lifting up to 40 pounds without assistance.
  • Flexible work schedule and ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Can work in varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing job duties.
  • Remains mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift; shift length may vary.
