Position Summary
The Tool Room Specialist is responsible for the receiving, storage, issuance, tracking, maintenance, and repair of company-owned tools and small equipment. This role supports Murray Company projects and fabrication/shop operations by ensuring tools are available, maintained, organized, and properly documented in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Pay
: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Schedule
:
Monday through Friday, 6:30am - 3:00pm
- Perform repair and routine maintenance of small tools and equipment used by Murray Company.
- Receive and ship tools and small equipment in accordance with documented company procedures.
- Organize, maintain, and secure tool room facilities, storage containers, and designated outside yard areas.
- Process material requisition forms per company procedures.
- Log tools and equipment in and out from:
Project jobsite locations and vendors. - Fabrication shops and storage facilities.
- Complete and process daily move tickets for large and small tools/equipment, including MC and MO numbers.
- Assist with implementation and ongoing use of barcode-based equipment inventory systems.
- Track tool condition, repair history, calibration, and availability.
- Maintain inventory levels for standard stock items and notify supervisor of shortages.
- Set up, assign, and maintain Knaack gang boxes for welders, plumbers, advanced technologies, and other trades.
- Maintain catalogs, specifications, and documentation for inventoried tools and equipment.
- Participate in weekly toolbox meetings and safety discussions.
- Complete required company documentation related to tool room operations, repairs, and maintenance.
- Support facility maintenance tasks as assigned.
- Complete required cross-training documentation and participate in cross-functional training activities.
- Follow all company safety policies, site procedures, and lock‑up protocols.
Required:
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent
Preferred:
- Gas monitor maintenance and calibration certification
- First Aid / CPR
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Must have sufficient to read printed and digital documents.
- Requires hearing ability to communicate in noisy environments.
- Must be able to recognize alarms, signals, and verbal instructions.
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
- Ability to grasp, handle, and manipulate small objects.
