JOB TITLE:
Equipment Technician I

The Equipment Technician (Equipment Tech) role is primarily responsible for helping to maintain inventory and assisting with preparing orders for delivery. This role works directly with our customer service and driving teams, to ensure customer orders are fulfilled accurately and on time. The Equipment Technician must be able to work with team members to test and assemble aluminum and metal equipment (including hydraulic shores and steel boxes) in various configurations quickly.

On-site attendance is an essential function of the job in order for the Equipment Tech to be able to quickly fulfill our customer requirements and coordinate with other departments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintains regular and dependable on-site attendance, arriving on time and prepared to begin work as scheduled.
  • Assist with the loading and unloading of equipment in the yard in a safe and timely manner.
  • Accurately identify and verify the type and quantity of equipment on an order, using the company’s official load-checking procedures.
  • Read rental contracts provided to drivers to ensure that deliveries and collection orders are fully completed.
  • Assemble, disassemble, and test equipment according to the TSC policies and procedures.
  • Provide a high level of customer service and professionalism to customers visiting Trench Shoring locations, and while at customer job sites.
  • Assist with the delivery and unloading of our equipment at customer jobsites in a safe and timely manner, following all training and safety protocols.
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate with customers, dispatchers, and supervisors.
  • Follow all TSC policies and procedures to ensure the job is done properly and safely.
  • Occasional local travel during the workday.
  • Perform other related duties assigned by management.
  • May be assigned to jobs that require working after regular hours.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be capable of reading, understanding, and following company procedures.
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations and read, interpret, and apply measurements. (e.g., use tape measures, read scales, perform inventory counts, and communicate accurate dimensions).
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

Required:
  • Must possess a valid and current Class C Driver's License issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
  • Crane certification is preferred.
Other

Skills:
  • Forklift operation and welding experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are required.
  • Time management skills (to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines) are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate and solve problems is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Frequently required to:
  • Stand and walk for up to 10 hours at a time.
  • Climb, bend, stoop, kneel, and crawl for extended periods of time during a scheduled shift.
  • Maintain balance and bodily control while working.
  • Utilize hand and finger dexterity continuously.
  • Reach, push and pull up to 70lbs.
  • Carry, hold and manipulate objects of varying size and texture using proper body mechanics.
  • Talk and hear someone speaking at noisy locations.
  • Hear verbal instructions, warnings and alarms in noisy environments.
Occasionally required to:
  • Sit down for extended periods depending on assigned tasks.
  • Able to climb up and down ladders up to 15 feet.
  • Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions.
