Position Summary

Kenowa Hills Public Schools is seeking energetic, dependable, and student-centered individuals to serve as Lunch, Recess, and Classroom Support Paraprofessionals. This position plays an important role in helping students feel safe, connected, and successful throughout the school day.

Successful candidates will enjoy working with children, staying active, building positive relationships, supporting student behavior, and contributing to a positive school culture. This position supports students during lunch and recess periods and provides classroom assistance, supervision, and academic support as assigned.

Qualifications
  • CPI and Ukeru training required as a condition of employment (district training provided)
  • Experience working with Pre-K–12 students preferred
  • Ability to supervise and support students in large-group, unstructured environments, including lunchrooms, playgrounds, hallways, arrival, dismissal, and school events
  • Ability to self-manage, remain vigilant, and actively supervise large areas while maintaining student safety and behavioral expectations
  • Ability to implement PBIS practices, school-wide behavior expectations, conflict resolution strategies, and de-escalation techniques
  • Ability to use age-appropriate language, tone, and behavior when interacting with students
  • Ability to establish and maintain consistent routines, expectations, and supervision procedures
  • Ability to support classroom instruction, including individual and small-group academic assistance as directed by the classroom teacher
  • Ability to transition seamlessly between supervision responsibilities and instructional support throughout the school day
  • Ability to function effectively as a member of a collaborative school team
  • Ability to communicate effectively and develop positive relationships with students, families, staff, and community members
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
  • Reliable and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while exercising sound judgment
  • Ability to respond appropriately and calmly during student conflicts, injuries, behavioral incidents, emergencies, and crisis situations
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Actively supervise students during lunch, recess, transitions, specials, field trips, assemblies, arrival, dismissal, and other school activities
  • Implement PBIS expectations and reinforce positive student behavior
  • Utilize CPI and Ukeru strategies as trained when responding to student dysregulation or behavioral concerns
  • Support classroom instruction through individual, small-group, and whole-group assistance as directed
  • Maintain active supervision and safety awareness across large indoor and outdoor environments
  • Assist students with conflict resolution, problem-solving, and social skill development
  • Monitor playgrounds, cafeterias, hallways, classrooms, and other student activity areas
  • Support teachers with classroom activities and instructional tasks as assigned
  • Communicate concerns regarding student safety, behavior, or well-being to appropriate staff members
  • Participate in training and professional learning opportunities as assigned
  • Support a positive, inclusive, and welcoming school environment
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Work Location Requirement

This is an in-person position requiring regular on-site attendance. The essential functions of this position cannot be performed remotely.
