Description

The essential duties and responsibilities of the Regional Safety Manager consist of, but are not limited to, the following. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions:

Personnel
  • In coordination with regional leadership and Human Resources department, participate in the hiring, training, and/or management of project safety personnel for assigned region, as required.
  • Support, coach and mentor site supervision with the preparation and implementation of project safety plans ensuring project team is trained.
Safety
  • Implement, monitor and update Corporate Safety Policies in coordination with the Human Resources Department.
  • M onitor construction activities to ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) construction industry standards as well as client’s safety program for project assigned in region.
  • Conducts pre-operational risk assessments on new sites. Design, propose and implement risk mitigation measures within the region in collaboration with Area Operations Manager and General Superintendent.
  • Identify conditions or actions that may cause injury, illness or property damage and ensure implementation.
  • Generate and distribute reports based on project needs or client requirements.
  • Bring serious situations to the immediate attention of senior management and the Human Resources Department.
  • Ensures that within the region; operation employees, contractors, site visitors, etc. receive safety onboarding.
  • Review, prepare and conduct an analysis of leading and lagging indicators to drive safety improvement.
  • Develop, update and implement of emergency procedures.
  • Act as the local area Company representative for OSHA, EPA and other state and federal regulatory agencies and address any issues that may arise.
  • Conduct accident, incident & near miss investigations as they arise in the field. Review and analyze to prepare lessons learned to be shared throughout region and Company. Implement any change procedures as necessary.
  • Interface with the General Contractor and others to increase trust, confidence and support for the safety program.
  • Coordinate with Risk Management team members on workers’ compensation claims and return to work programs.
Training
  • Provide training and coaching to local safety staff to ensure technical competence and leadership development across region.
  • Coordinate and deliver training, as required or schedule resources to conduct specific classes in safety training to perform their job safely and effectively.
Other Duties
  • Coordinate, communicate, and assess vendors/new vendors for corporate use.
  • Par tner with HR Dept. on reviewing and updating corporate safety manual and safety policies and procedures.
  • Assists in the completion of OSHA surveys and publication of OSHA 300 log for region.
  • Assists in providing information on HSE for RFP submissions.
  • Monitor safety committee meetings progress at the jobsite.
  • Attend seminars/educational training programs, as required.
  • Perform any other related or unrelated, unassigned, unspecified duty that may be needed from time to time.
Requirements Education

High School diploma required. Bachelor’s degree in Occupational/Environmental Health & Safety or Construction Management preferred. CHST, ASP or CSP designation required. OSHA 30 Hour safety training, fall protection competency, scaffold (erection & user) competency, First Aid/CPR, AED and Bloodborne Pathogen Certified Trainer. Forklift and aerial & scissor lift safety training. Root cause analysis/accident investigation training, safety leadership training and risk assessment/audit compliance training.

Experience

Required 5 - 7 years safety or OHS/EHS (Occupational/Environmental Health & Safety) experience.

Skills

Well developed analytic and conceptual skills. Proven leadership capabilities and ability to work independently. Knowledge of Federal and state OSHA regulations and other government compliance regulations. Valid Driver’s License and successful completion of DMV Pull Notice.
