Purpose
The purpose of this role is to develop well‑rounded future talent with construction expertise across multi‑disciplines—ultimately creating professionals with experience in the full scope of construction management. Specifically, this role assists and supports Field Operations and/or Estimating functions in achieving their respective goals and objectives. This role contributes to several facets of construction (project management, field operations, estimating).
Focus & ScopeEssential duties and responsibilities, i.e. those which are basic, necessary, and an integral part of the job, are indicated below:
- Assists in achieving a zero‑injury culture through active participation in the TLS Injury Prevention and Safety Program, safety meetings, and training sessions. Proactively identifies and communicates safety improvements and hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions, supports implementation of corrective actions, and promotes a safe, healthy work environment in compliance with company safety standards.
- Completes assigned project responsibilities accurately, on time, and in accordance with customer expectations. Supports Project Managers, Superintendents, and Estimators by coordinating assigned project activities, identifying and communicating project issues, assisting in resolving field challenges, and ensuring assigned work complies with company and project policies, procedures, schedules, quality standards, and contract requirements. Assists in monitoring field productivity and work performance and communicates opportunities for improvement.
- Coordinates assigned project resources by verifying labor, equipment, and material requirements for accuracy, coordinating subcontractors and suppliers, ordering and scheduling materials, and preparing GPS models and other project support documents necessary for field operations.
- Assists Estimators in performing material takeoffs by gathering, calculating, and compiling data used in bid proposal estimates. Researches historical project information, prepares summary reports, and maintains estimating documentation to support future estimating efforts.
- Assists in preparing project estimates by reviewing proposal specifications, construction drawings, and project requirements to determine project scope. Compiles project information, quantity takeoffs, and historical cost data to support unit cost and labor hour estimates for review by project management.
- Travels to project sites, as required, to support project planning, field engineering activities, construction coordination, project documentation, and successful project execution.
- Builds and maintains positive working relationships with internal and external customers, utility representatives, subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and field personnel, serving as a liaison to support project objectives and operational success. Communicates company and project policies, procedures, and standards while maintaining a professional representation of Teichert Line Services.
- Maintains assigned project documentation and administrative records, including project logs, reports, estimates, RFIs, submittals, contracts, permits, price quotations, purchase orders, work orders, invoices, traffic control plans, quantity takeoffs, and other project documentation necessary to support successful project execution.
- Performs assigned field engineering responsibilities including marking and calling in USA tickets; participating in pre‑job site walks with Construction Managers to verify project scope, property limits, and field conditions; documenting projects through pre‑ and post‑construction photographs; coordinating property owner notifications; preparing restoration sketches; obtaining permits for meter relocations; supporting redline and as‑built documentation; coordinating material needs with PG&E Field Engineers and suppliers;
identifying and documenting potential out‑of‑scope work; collecting GPS coordinates; maintaining field weld logs; and reviewing field conditions for consistency with project plans and specifications. - Reviews construction drawings, specifications, permits, and project documents to support field…
