Dutiesand Responsibilities of Teachers of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (Special Class)
- to tailor the individual student's program to the student's needs as dictated by the multiplicity and severity of student's handicaps.
- to use various educational methods for remediation of social/learning difficulties.
- to approach instruction with an understanding of physical/emotional/mental involvements which affect the learning capabilities of hearing-handicapped children.
- to establish, in cooperation with the District Program Administrator (II), Aurally Handicapped Program, standards of expected progress for individual students and techniques for continued assessment of progress which result in appropriate placement of the student(s).
- to encourage educational and/or social integration of deaf and hard-of-hearing students with other students.
- to become acquainted with existing pupil records and update them as required, and to provide for the District other information that is requested.
- to give direction to the aide assigned to the teacher toward the end that the aide becomes an effective paraprofessional teacher.
- to attend the District Special Education Admissions and Discharge Committee meetings as needed.
- to maintain communication with parents in order that they may understand the plan of amelioration and its effectiveness for the student(s) involved.
- to use amplification with the students and see that hearing aids are working properly.
- to complete an annual reevaluation of student progress for the District Special Education Admissions and Discharge Committee.
- to attend job-related meetings and activities specified by the District Program Administrator (II), Aurally Handicapped Program.
- to perform those non-instructional duties and responsibilities, including supervisory and advisory duties, as may be prescribed by the Board of Education.

Salary: $66,925.60 to $123,399 Per Year
