CERTIFICATED TEACHING PERSONNEL

Elementary Art Teacher (0.10 FTE / 3.5 Hours per Week)

Ayers Elementary School is seeking a creative, enthusiastic, and student-centered Art Teacher to provide engaging visual arts instruction to elementary students. The Art Teacher will plan and deliver age‑appropriate lessons that foster creativity, artistic expression, and an appreciation for the arts while supporting a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications
  • Valid California Single Subject Teaching Credential in Art.
  • Experience working with elementary‑aged children.
  • Knowledge of age‑appropriate art techniques, materials, and instructional practices.
  • Ability to create a safe, engaging, and culturally responsive learning environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Schedule

0.10 FTE (3.5 hours per week)

Duties and Responsibilities
  • To establish, in cooperation with the principal or designee, goals and objectives consistent with the evaluation article of the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Comply with all laws and regulations of the State of California, policy and rules of the Mt. Diablo Unified School District Board of Education, and terms and conditions of the collective bargaining agreement, including but not limited to:
    • Being present on campus during contractually designated time.
    • Attending job‑related meetings and activities.
    • Submitting accurate forms, reports and other required documents.
    • Complying with mandatory child abuse reporting laws.
    • Adhering to State‑adopted curriculum and standards.
  • While on a site is responsible to the site administrator for the care, control, and instruction of the students in his/her charge.
  • To report promptly to the principal any serious accident or illness affecting students.
  • To respect the individuality of the children.
  • To maintain conditions and practices in the classrooms that positively affect the physical and mental health of the children.
  • To keep abreast of current innovative educational practices and curriculum trends to participate in policy‑making processes and curriculum revision.
  • To enforce all rules governing the conduct of pupils as prescribed by the Superintendent and the Board of Education, and those developed cooperatively by the principal and faculty, not conflicting with Board policy.
  • To work cooperatively with employees of the District and with the community.
  • Provide and maintain adequate lesson plans and instructions for substitute teachers.
  • To perform those non‑instructional duties and responsibilities, including supervisory and advisory duties, as prescribed by the Board of Education.
  • Step placement is based on prior years of K‑12 teaching experience while in possession of a valid teaching credential. At least 75% of a school year must have been served to count as a year of teaching experience. Classification is based on semester units completed after your Bachelor’s degree was issued.
