Job Description

Candidate must hold a valid California Single Subject English Teaching Credential.

Classified as certified teaching personnel. Classroom teachers are evaluated against the California Standards for the Teaching Profession and district policies.

Establish goals and objectives in cooperation with the principal or designee consistent with the evaluation article of the collective bargaining agreement.

Comply with all laws, district policies, and the collective bargaining agreement, including:

Being present on campus during contractually designated time.
Attending job‑related meetings and activities.
Submitting accurate forms, reports and required documents.
Complying with mandatory child abuse reporting laws.
Adhering to state‑adopted curriculum and standards.

For a site, be responsible to the site administrator for the care, control and instruction of the students in charge.

Report promptly to the principal any serious accident or illness affecting students.

Respect the individuality of the children.

Maintain classroom conditions that positively affect the physical and mental health of the children.

Report promptly any factors preventing the full exercise of duties and responsibilities.

Stay current with innovative educational practices and curriculum trends to participate in policy‑making and curriculum revision.

Enforce rules governing conduct of pupils as prescribed by the Superintendent, Board of Education, or cooperatively developed by the principal and faculty, without conflict with Board policy.

Work cooperatively with district employees and the community.

Provide and maintain adequate lesson plans and instructions for substitute teachers.

Perform non‑instructional duties and responsibilities, including supervisory and advisory duties, as prescribed by the Board of Education.

Job Requirements

Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
Step placement is based on prior years of K‑12 teaching experience while holding a valid teaching credential; at least 75% of a school year must have been served to count as a year of teaching experience. Classification is based on semester units completed after the Bachelor’s degree was issued.
