The Opportunity
CCWD is seeking a part-time Water Educator & Outreach Instructor to join the Public Affairs Department and help deliver classroom programs, water treatment plant field trips, and community events. CCWD's Water Education Program reaches nearly 30,000 students each year through interactive, age-appropriate programs about water and the community's water supply.
Additional responsibilities may include communicating with teachers, coordinating program schedules, creating curriculum, completing administrative tasks and supporting other public affairs activities. The ideal candidate has formal or informal education experience, is detail-oriented, customer-focused, interested in fostering a nurturing educational environment, has strong communication skills and can adapt to the changing needs of students and the school system. This position is expected to work approximately 500 hours per year, with most hours occurring during the school day.
Some evening and weekend work will be required to support community events and other outreach activity.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare for and deliver classroom presentations for students in CCWD's service area.
- Lead field trips at CCWD water treatment plants and the Los Vaqueros Watershed.
- Represent CCWD at community events, STEM programs, career-readiness events, and other public outreach opportunities.
- Present information about water science, water supply, water treatment, stewardship and careers.
- Adapt instruction and activities to each age, grade level, learning need, and background of participating students.
- Develop, review, and update curriculum, presentations, and supporting materials to meet program needs and applicable state education standards.
- Coordinate schedules and communications with teachers, schools, CCWD staff and other program partners.
- Organize and maintain educational materials, equipment, and program supplies.
- Work collaboratively with other instructors, Public Affairs staff and CCWD employees at various facilities and community events to provide safe and effective programs.
- Drive personal vehicle to schools, CCWD facilities, community events and other program locations throughout CCWD's service area. Must maintain a valid driver's license and automobile insurance. Mileage is reimbursed in accordance with CCWD policy.
Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
Training:
Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in education, water science, biological sciences, engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
Two (2) years of professional classroom instruction.
Licenses and
Certifications:
- Possession of a valid California driver's license to be maintained throughout employment.
Physical Demands
