The Opportunity

We are seeking up to two or more Assistant and/or Associate Engineer(s) to join the Engineering Department. Candidates may also fill additional project‑funded positions depending on qualifications. The role involves contributing to a variety of projects that support CCWD’s critical infrastructure and offers opportunities for professional growth and technical expertise expansion.

Example Duties
  • Prepare engineering plans, specifications, studies, and reports; conduct site visits to monitor construction project progress.
  • Manage assigned projects, ensuring critical tasks and priorities are identified and addressed to keep projects on track.
  • Assess and manage risks related to project scope, schedule, and budget to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Act as a technical resource, providing expertise and guidance across various CCWD initiatives.
  • Administer consultant contracts, coordinating efforts between consultants and project stakeholders to ensure timely and effective project delivery.
Minimum Qualifications

Position(s) may be filled at the Assistant or Associate Engineer classification level, depending on the candidate’s skills, knowledge, and experience. Project‑funded positions are time‑limited and contingent upon the continuation of the Canal Replacement Program. Possession of the minimum qualifications does not guarantee selection; only the best‑qualified candidates will be invited to the next step in the selection process.

Physical Demands

Standard office setting: mobility for using a computer; vision, hearing, and speech for communication; ability to stand, walk, and use a keyboard. Field work: strength, stamina, and mobility for light physical work; ability to walk, stand, kneel, bend, and operate a motor vehicle. Requires lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 25 pounds.

Environmental Elements

Office: moderate noise, controlled temperature, no direct exposure to hazardous substances. Field: exposure to loud noise, temperature extremes, weather, road hazards, vibration, confined space, chemicals, mechanical or electrical hazards, dust, and air contaminants.
