Senior Civil Engineer

Seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join its Solid Waste Engineering Group. This position offers the opportunity to lead challenging environmental and infrastructure projects while working with multidisciplinary teams supporting public- and private-sector clients nationwide. The role may be performed remotely or from one of APTIM's designated offices.

What You'll Do

• Lead engineering projects and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Prepare and review engineering calculations, drawings, technical reports, and permit applications.
• Support landfill and solid waste facility design, permitting, and operations.
• Develop regulatory compliance reports, work plans, and technical studies.
• Provide technical oversight, engineering review, and quality control.
• Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
• Coordinate directly with clients, contractors, regulators, and internal technical teams.
• Support stormwater modeling and management planning.
• Participate in hydrogeologic and geotechnical investigations.
• Provide construction oversight and operations/maintenance support.
• Identify client needs and develop practical engineering solutions.
• Attend client and project meetings and support business development efforts.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Environmental, Geotechnical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 10+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects and work across multiple engineering disciplines.
• Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
• Proven project management, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project teams and clients.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous landfill and/or solid waste engineering experience.
• Experience with landfill design, permitting, operations, or environmental compliance.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, HEC-RAS, and ArcGIS.
• Knowledge of federal and county environmental regulations.
• Experience working directly with regulatory agencies, contractors, and clients.
