Senior Desktop Engineer

The City of Concord is currently seeking to fill one Senior Desktop Engineer vacancy in the Information Technology Department.

The Information Development Department

The mission of the Information Technology Department is to ensure Concord’s technology portfolio provides the appropriate set of tools required for delivering high-quality services to internal departments, Concord residents, and other agencies in a consistent manner sustainable over the 10‑year budget horizon.

What you will be doing
  • Leading and inspiring a team of Service Desk Technicians to deliver exceptional desktop support services across the organization.
  • Developing and delivering technical trainings and documentation to empower technology users.
  • Maintaining an up‑to‑date inventory of all IT assets and overseeing asset lifecycle replacement projects.
  • Participating and making recommendations for IT planning and improvement projects.
  • Administering and maintaining Active Directory ensuring secure and efficient user authentication and access control.
  • Monitoring and managing the IT ticketing system, ensuring timely resolution of user requests and incidents.
  • Diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues to ensure minimal disruption to customers.
  • Designing and implementing scripts to automate software deployment and streamline repetitive tasks.

Education/Experience

Education: Possession of a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline.

Experience: Three years of increasingly responsible employment in systems and application programming; preferably including responsibility for leading the work of others.

A California Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record are conditions of initial and continued employment.

Knowledge and Abilities

Considerable knowledge of patterns and trends in computer technology with emphasis on structured design, analysis, relational databases, and programming techniques. Ability to lead and perform systems analysis and programming activities, to learn and effectively apply related equipment, policies, procedures, and practices. Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective relationships with stakeholders.
