Legal Secretary

Description

A highly respected East Bay law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Secretary to join their team on a contract basis, with strong potential for contract-to-hire if a good fit on both ends. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with three senior attorneys at a firm known for its sophisticated civil litigation practice.

This well-established boutique firm focuses on complex civil litigation, with core practice areas including:

+ Business and commercial litigation

+ Construction law

+ Real estate disputes

+ Insurance defense

+ Professional liability

Key Responsibilities

+ E-filing in California state and federal courts

+ Managing and maintaining litigation calendars (court deadlines, hearings, depositions)

+ Drafting, formatting, and proofreading pleadings and correspondence

+ Preparing and updating Tables of Contents and Tables of Authorities (TOCs/TOAs)

+ Coordinating service of process and filings

+ Organizing and maintaining case files (electronic and physical)

+ Communicating with court personnel, clients, and opposing counsel as needed

Requirements

+ 3+ years of litigation secretary experience

+ Strong knowledge of California court rules and e-filing procedures

+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word formatting expertise required); experience with Clio

+

Experience with TOCs/TOAs and complex legal document formatting

+ Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

+ Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines

Work Environment & Schedule

+ Hybrid schedule: 3 days onsite in Concord, 2 days remote
