CompanyOverview
We are seeking an experienced and hands‑on Lead Hand to support the daily operations of our Patio Door Department. The successful candidate will provide leadership on the production floor, ensure quality and safety standards are maintained, assist with troubleshooting production issues, and support the team in meeting production goals. This is a full‑time, onsite position in a manufacturing environment. Previous Lead Hand experience is required.
Experience in patio door, window, or door manufacturing is considered a strong asset.
- Coordinate and assign work to production employees to ensure daily production targets are achieved.
- Monitor workflow and production schedules to maintain efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Conduct quality inspections throughout the production process to ensure products meet company standards and specifications.
- Identify and address quality concerns promptly to reduce defects and rework.
- Assist with the setup, operation, and basic troubleshooting of production equipment and machinery.
- Investigate production issues and identify root causes of defects or operational challenges.
- Verify measurements, specifications, and work orders to ensure product accuracy.
- Provide hands‑on support to team members when technical issues arise.
- Train and support new employees on department processes, quality requirements, and safe work practices.
- Provide day‑to‑day guidance and direction to production staff.
- Promote a positive, respectful, and productive work environment.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety policies, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Communicate production delays, equipment issues, material shortages, and other operational concerns to management.
- Maintain accurate records of production output, quality concerns, scrap, and rejected materials.
- Monitor inventory levels of department components and materials to support uninterrupted production.
- Report inventory shortages and assist with inventory counts as required.
- Complete production and operational reports accurately and on time.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment, preferably in window and door manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of production processes, quality standards, and safety procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret production orders, specifications, and measurements.
- Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Leadership experience or demonstrated ability to lead and support a team.
- Effective communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3–5+ years of experience in windows & doors manufacturing or a similar industry.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with manufacturing equipment and tools used in door production.
- Basic computer skills (production tracking systems, Excel, etc.).
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, tools, noise, and moving equipment.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and handling of materials.
- Must be able to safely lift and move materials in accordance with company guidelines.
