Job Summary
Manufacturing Engineer – Moulding ensures a smooth transition of new products from Advanced Product Development to Operations within the Magna Exteriors portfolio, supporting launch excellence, continuous improvement, and risk reduction.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure smooth transition of new products from Advanced Product Development to Operations.
- Participate in all molding‑related quote activities, evaluating part designs, estimating cavities, calculating mold tonnage, and recommending design changes to improve profitability.
- Obtain quotes for injection molding machines, secondary capital equipment, tooling vendors, EOATs, gate cutting equipment, and manage any molding‑related capital equipment.
- Coordinate all launch aspects including materials, machinery, manpower, measurements, and methods.
- Assist in part design activities and provide feasibility directives for ease of manufacturing and cost reduction.
- Follow the Advanced Product Quality Planning (Trax) practice.
- Support development of Process Control Plans, Process Flow Charts, PFMEA, Operator Instructions, Rework & Change‑over procedures, and Continuous Improvement Program documentation.
- Track and achieve launch key milestones, KPI’s, test incidents, customer rejects, and high‑risk items.
- Co‑ordinate, lead, and participate in multi‑disciplined teams to address corporate objectives related to manufacturing process, productivity, volume outputs, scrap/rework, quality, safety, and delivery commitment.
- Work with suppliers to resolve process deviations and reduce scrap.
- Maintain Launch Readiness Training modules, mentor and train CFT members, and conduct launch audits.
- Track open issues, corrective actions, and ensure timely communication with the customer.
- Review project‑related capital and tooling budgets weekly and support lowest cost launch.
- Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering Degree/Diploma, or applicable trade.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role, with higher‑level analysis and ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
$85,000 – 90,000 per year.
