College Student Internships
Are you a college student looking to gain paid experience in your field of study while serving your community in a meaningful way? The City of Concord is currently offering internship opportunities in the following areas:
- Engineering: $25 - $30/hour
- Parks & Urban Forestry: $22 - $26.70/hour
- Assist City of Concord Engineers with project development and construction delivery.
- Education:
Candidates must be a sophomore or higher in or transferring into a four‑year engineering program. - Technical skills:
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Excel spreadsheets. - Interest:
Genuine desire to learn about local government engineering projects. - Timeline:
Internship begins in June 2026 and ends by August 30, 2026. - Commitment:
Up to 40 hours per week (full‑time summer schedule).
- Responsibilities include data collection, entry, mining, filtering, and migration of legacy data; web‑based and in‑field asset inventorying; field surveys of park conditions; project and records administration; public communication and organizing; and general office support.
- Internship is year‑round and may involve up to 1,000 hours per fiscal year.
- Hours:
24–40 hours per week. - Qualifications:
Strong self‑starters, collaborative, and able to work well both within a team and independently.
Completion of high school or GED supplemented with college coursework related to the assigned program area. Must be currently enrolled in six or more units toward a bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited college or university in a field related to the area of assignment.
Driver’s LicenseA valid California driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record are conditions of initial and continued employment.
Conviction HistoryIf you receive a conditional job offer, you will be fingerprinted and your fingerprints will be sent to the California Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The resulting report of your conviction history, if any, will be used to determine whether the nature of your conviction conflicts with the specific duties and responsibilities of the job. A conflict may be mitigated by evidence of rehabilitation.
