The Software Automation Test Developer
-1 is responsible for designing, executing, and maintaining software automation tests in an agile environment. Continuously improve test automation processes and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure high‑quality software delivery.
This position reports to the Software Development and Verification Manager and is part of the Software Department located in Concord, Canada and will be an on‑site role.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:- Create, maintain, debug, and run automated tests under guidance to help increase test coverage and validate intended product behavior.
- Support and contribute to the automation framework by implementing small enhancements and following established standards.
- Provide timely test feedback for new features and enhancements through automated test execution and clear result reporting.
- Identify, isolate, and document defects with clear reproduction steps; collaborate with developers and senior team members on resolution.
- Participate in user story discussions by asking clarifying questions, helping break down testing tasks, and providing basic effort estimates.
- Work closely with Verification Specialists, Software Developers, and stakeholders to understand feature requirements and define appropriate automated test scenarios.
- Participate in peer reviews of automated test code and apply feedback to improve code quality and maintainability and follow development best practices to write reliable, maintainable, and resilient automated tests.
- BS in Computer Science or min 2 years of relevant experience or MS in Computer Science.
- Object‑oriented programming skills (Java, C++, Python, or similar).
- Some experience developing frontend and/or backend automated tests.
- Knowledge of software functional and non‑functional testing techniques and the software testing lifecycle.
- Familiarity with source control, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Delivery tools & concepts.
- Ability to clearly communicate testing and technology‑related topics to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders;
Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail. - Familiarity with modern version control and work tracking tools; experience with Git and Jira is preferred. Exposure to Team City and internal/custom engineering tools is an advantage.
- 1–3 years of software QA & testing experience or an educational background in Chemistry is a strong plus with an understanding of agile development processes and practices.
