Salary is negotiable based on experience.

  • Inclusive Recreation Specialist I: $17.22 - $20.47, with no relevant coursework required
  • Inclusive Recreation Specialist II: $20.98 - $23.16, requiring some coursework in Therapeutic Education, Special Education, Social Work or a related field.
Senior Center

The Concord Senior Center serves as a recreation and resource hub for older adults from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on weekdays. In the evenings, the facility supports rentals and recreation programs, including Inclusive Recreation for adults with developmental disabilities. Program offerings at the center include quarterly dances and regular social gatherings.

What you will be doing

Under supervision, Inclusive Recreation Specialists work primarily at the Concord Senior Center, at 2727 Parkside Circle to support the City’s Inclusive Adult Recreation Program. This position will assist with organizing, modifying and leading recreational activities and events for adults with physical and developmental disabilities. This position also facilitates the participation of the individual(s) with a disability so that participants can engage in recreational activities in a safe, supportive, and socially enriching environment.

The Inclusive Recreation Specialist II is distinguished from the Inclusive Recreation Specialist I in that the Inclusive Recreation Specialist II performs duties independently.

All positions are part time, limited service and must be able to work afternoons, evenings and weekends. Tuesday afternoons 3pm – 6pm are mandatory to support current programming. Hours and schedule may vary depending on programming needs.

Selection Process
  • Submit a completed City of Concord application and the required supplemental question responses, online yofconco rd.org/jobs.
  • As positions become available, qualified applications and supplemental responses will be competitively evaluated, and those candidates demonstrating the strongest qualifications for the position will be invited to interview.
  • Successful candidates will be provided a conditional offer of employment and must clear DOJ live scan.
  • Conviction History

If you receive a conditional job offer, you will be fingerprinted, and your fingerprints will be sent to the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). If a conflict exists, you will be asked to present any evidence of rehabilitation that may mitigate the conflict, except when federal or state regulations bar employment in specific circumstances.
