The Part Time School Nurse (8-12 hours per week) educates and supports the students, faculty, and staff regarding matters of health, wellness, injury prevention, risk management and delegation of medication administration. The Part Time School Nurse may be asked to accompany students on field trips as needed during the school year.
This is a great opportunity for an RN who is looking to supplement other work or someone looking to spend a few hours per week in a joyful educational setting supporting a supportive team of educators and administration as we serve a vibrant community of adolescent learners, some of whom have a medicinal regimen or severe allergies requiring Epi-Pens. Could be a volunteer or paid position.
Whatyou will do
- Ability to originate, update, and/or monitor health care, maintain records, and implement the coordinated school health program and Standing Orders.
- Has working knowledge of HIPAA and FERPA and how they apply to student medical records.
- Oversees and provides direct care to students to maximize health and wellness within the school community.
- Works in collaboration with consulting physician. Work is self-directed but performed in accordance with the policies and procedures and state law regarding nursing practice.
- Implement federal, state and local health regulations.
- Demonstrate clinical competency in school nursing practice:
Recognize changes in student’s physical and mental condition and take appropriate action. Adapt nursing care interventions to the student’s physical condition, emotional status, and developmental level. - Identify students with chronic health care issues and students at-risk for health related problems.
