Alcott Elementary School seeks an experienced, highly skilled, properly certified long‑term substitute to teach first grade from the beginning of the school year through October 16, 2026. The role will be the primary educator for a self‑contained cohort of 16–20 students. Responsibilities include classroom planning, instruction, management, assessment, parent communication, and team‑based curriculum development.
Responsibilities- Plan and deliver engaging, child‑centered instruction for first‑grade students.
- Manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment.
- Administer and use formative assessments to guide instruction.
- Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and administration.
- Collaborate with Curriculum Specialists and the Special Education team to meet student needs.
- Incorporate technology and differentiate instruction for diverse learning styles.
- Contribute to team‑based curriculum development and participate in ongoing professional development.
- Support students with disabilities and work closely with the special education team.
- Valid, properly certified teacher license for first grade or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field (master’s preferred).
- At least 3 years of relevant teaching experience (early literacy, numeracy).
- Experience with Responsive Classroom, integrated curriculum, and technology integration.
- Strong communication skills, including written and oral communication with diverse audiences.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and anti‑racism training.
- Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction and collaborate with special education.
- Values integrity, professionalism, curiosity, responsibility, creativity, and respect for all.
- Valid teaching certification and full background clearance.
- Civilian citizenship or lawful residency; work visa status verified.
- Will work full‑time for the specified period.
