Overview
Step into one of the UK’s most secure and high‑impact infrastructure projects—where your commercial expertise will help shape national defence.
We are looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a high‑security defence infrastructure programme. This role involves commercial and contractual governance within an NEC4 contract environment and supports a complex £multi‑million construction programme.
You will be part of a multidisciplinary team and will need to work from site at least four days per week due to the sensitive nature of the work. The ideal Quantity Surveyor will bring both technical precision and collaborative skills to support programme success and value assurance.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with external consultants to assure cost and financial deliverables
- Contribute to business case development and cost justification
- Prepare cost reports, cash flows, and forecasting models
- Maintain transparency and hold contractors accountable for commercial data
- Provide data‑driven insights to support decision‑making
- Identify cost‑saving measures and improve contract performance
- Attend progress and monthly cost meetings
- Champion value‑for‑money principles in all decisions
- Support early‑stage planning and feasibility analysis
- Validate cost data provenance for audit and assurance
- Manage change control in accordance with contractual obligations
- Promote commercial awareness across the programme
- Support dispute resolution and contract close‑out activities
- Review and advise on NEC contract procurement and negotiation
- Strong background in quantity surveying, estimating, or procurement on major infrastructure projects
- Proven experience with NEC4 contracts and civils cost estimating
- Ability to challenge and interrogate contractor cost proposals
- Understanding of how cost, risk, and schedule interact
- BSc in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field
- Sole UK nationality
- DV clearance or willingness to undergo DV vetting
- Full UK driving licence
