Lead Project Estimator – 1-Year Contract (W-2)
Location:
Juno Beach, FL 33408. Reports to the Manager of Project Estimating.
Lead Project Estimator responsible for developing comprehensive cost estimates and optimizing project performance. Requires background in conceptual engineering, project design, and value engineering. Occasional travel to project sites for meetings, inspections, and collaboration with on‑site teams.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the development of detailed project cost estimates, including conceptual, preliminary, and definitive estimates for new and existing projects.
- Perform conceptual engineering design and develop preliminary construction plans to support estimating scope quantification.
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to gather and analyze project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to prepare accurate estimates.
- Perform value‑engineering analysis to identify cost‑saving opportunities while maintaining quality and project requirements.
- Develop and maintain estimation tools, databases, and methodologies to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of cost estimating processes.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop contingency plans to account for potential project uncertainties.
- Present cost estimates and value‑engineering options to senior management, project stakeholders, and clients.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior estimators, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
- Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and ensure the best value for the company.
- Track project costs and variances throughout the project lifecycle, updating estimates to reflect changes in scope, design, or market conditions.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in project estimating, focusing on conceptual engineering and project design.
- Experience in utility‑scale energy projects, including renewable energy, power generation, and transmission infrastructure.
- Proficiency in value‑engineering principles and practices.
- Experience with construction methods, materials, and equipment.
- Knowledge of industry best practices in project estimating and cost management.
Estimated hourly rate: $91.00 – $96.00 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and skills. Benefits include comprehensive health and income protection benefits, 401(k) savings plan, and paid vacations for qualifying positions.
