Hours: 8:30-5:00pm
Pay Range: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour
Job SummaryReporting to the Practice Manager and General Surgeons, the Clinical Office Coordinator performs a wide variety of responsibilities and support to the physician.
Job Functions- Greet patients upon arrival, maintains orderliness of reception area and Front desk ensuring patient confidentiality.
- Answer phones and retrieves and distributes messages appropriately.
- Processes patients quickly and accurately through the computer based scheduling system for future appointments, surgeries and/or testing as appropriate for patient care.
- Orders necessary office and medical supplies and insures security of all medications.
- Captures and enters high quality patient demographic and financial information via telephone interviews and hard copy (mail-in, facsimile, etc.).
- Identifies insurance coverage and payer requirements for hospital services, processes insurance verification and other basic benefits information for patients, as necessary.
- Communicates with physicians' offices and staff in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintains and supports patient's rights to care, privacy and respect.
- Schedules and coordinate surgical procedures with the hospital and the patient.
- Enters daily and surgical billing charges to Athena.
- Other duties as assigned from time to time.
- Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. - Experience:
One to three years Administrative Assistant/Medical Office preferred. - Licensure and/or Certification:
Graduate of a Medical Assistant/Secretary program preferred.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and moderate keyboarding is required.
- Knowledge of GE Centricity to access and utilize electronic medical records preferred.
- Knowledge of Athena based scheduling/billing software helpful.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented with strong ability to multi-task required.
- Familiarity with medical terminology preferred.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Knowledge of patient billing, account processes, third party billing and revenue cycle preferred.
- Ability to maintain confidential information required.
