Hours: 8:30-5:00pm

Pay Range: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour

Job Summary

Reporting to the Practice Manager and General Surgeons, the Clinical Office Coordinator performs a wide variety of responsibilities and support to the physician.

Job Functions
  • Greet patients upon arrival, maintains orderliness of reception area and Front desk ensuring patient confidentiality.
  • Answer phones and retrieves and distributes messages appropriately.
  • Processes patients quickly and accurately through the computer based scheduling system for future appointments, surgeries and/or testing as appropriate for patient care.
  • Orders necessary office and medical supplies and insures security of all medications.
  • Captures and enters high quality patient demographic and financial information via telephone interviews and hard copy (mail-in, facsimile, etc.).
  • Identifies insurance coverage and payer requirements for hospital services, processes insurance verification and other basic benefits information for patients, as necessary.
  • Communicates with physicians' offices and staff in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintains and supports patient's rights to care, privacy and respect.
  • Schedules and coordinate surgical procedures with the hospital and the patient.
  • Enters daily and surgical billing charges to Athena.
  • Other duties as assigned from time to time.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education:

    High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience:

    One to three years Administrative Assistant/Medical Office preferred.
  • Licensure and/or Certification:
    Graduate of a Medical Assistant/Secretary program preferred.
Skills
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and moderate keyboarding is required.
  • Knowledge of GE Centricity to access and utilize electronic medical records preferred.
  • Knowledge of Athena based scheduling/billing software helpful.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented with strong ability to multi-task required.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Knowledge of patient billing, account processes, third party billing and revenue cycle preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information required.
