Food Service Representative

Job Summary

Reporting to the Operations Manager or designee, the Meal Service Representative provides customers (patients and cafeteria) with high quality service.

• Accurately assembles patient trays to provide maximum patient safety.
• Delivers patient trays in a friendly and courteous manner. Follows patient identification protocol to ensure patient safety.
• Adheres to protocol related to patient privacy and respect including knocking on doors before entering patient rooms.
• Performs general kitchen sanitation duties.
• Assists with the cafeteria meal service to provide exceptional food and service to all customers.
• Washes dishes and performs other duties in the dishroom including putting items away.
• Works safely, adhering to safety rules within the department and other areas of the hospital.
• Respects hygiene and universal precautions requirements.
• Promotes Service Excellence.
• Performs minimal food preparation, as needed.
• Inventories and stocks supplies.
• Performs retail operations cashiering.
• Maintains and supports patient’s rights to care, privacy and respect.
• Other duties as assigned from time to time.

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Previous experience strongly preferred.

None required.

• Ability to interact with patients, employees, family members, staff, and other customers in a positive, hospitable manner.
• Ability to read, understand and follow written instructions and meal tickets.
• Computer skills to check Hospital e‑mail and perform other training and mandatory requirements.
• Ability to maintain confidential information.
• Numerical ability with skills to use the cash register/collect money.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
