Mantell Associates is partnered with an innovative Cell & Gene Therapy organisation, who is seeking an experienced Senior Director of Program Management to lead cross-functional program teams in the development of advanced cell and/or gene therapy programs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving strategic planning, execution, and delivery of complex projects across research, CMC, clinical, regulatory, and commercial functions. This is a high-impact role requiring leadership, strategic insight, and deep understanding of the biotech product development lifecycle.

Senior Director of Program Management - Responsibilities:

• Lead cross-functional program teams including R&D, CMC, regulatory, clinical, commercial, and business development
• Develop and maintain comprehensive program plans, timelines, budgets, and risk management strategies
• Act as the primary point of contact for program-level communication and updates to executive leadership and stakeholders
• Ensure alignment with corporate strategy, milestones, and financial targets
• Coordinate with CMC, clinical operations, and regulatory affairs to drive IND/CTA submissions, clinical trials, and BLA/MAA readiness
• Manage external partnerships including CROs, CDMOs, academic collaborators, and licensing partners
• Drive decision-making through well-prepared governance presentations and scenario planning
• Anticipate and mitigate program risks and interdependencies
• Maintain program documentation and ensure compliance with internal governance and regulatory expectations

Senior Director of Program Management - Requirements:

• Advanced degree in life sciences (PhD, Pharm
  
  D, MD, or MS); MBA is a plus
• 10+ years of experience in biotech/pharmaceutical industry, including 5+ years of program management experience
• Deep expertise in cell and/or gene therapy, including understanding of vector manufacturing, regulatory landscape, and clinical development nuances
• Experience with rare diseases, oncology, or immunotherapy indications preferred
• Previous success in global development programs, including FDA and EMA interactions preferred
• PMP certification or formal project management training preferred
• Proven track record in leading cross-functional drug development teams from preclinical through clinical and ideally into commercialization
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, and influencing skills across matrixed organizations
• Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills
• Experience with tools like MS Project, Smartsheet, or other project planning software
