Registered Nurse; RN - Pre-Surgical Testing

Job Summary

Reports directly to unit manager but works collaboratively with the department of anesthesia. This role is expected to gather appropriate patient information, including but not limited to tests, labs, consults, etc. The staff must ensure these results are within acceptable range parameters and, if not, collaborate with the appropriate physicians to rectify the areas of concern so surgery is not cancelled.

In conjunction with support staff, the candidate is responsible for assembling the patient chart for the surgical procedure, ensuring completion of all ordered tests, and instructing the patient on fasting times, medications to be taken or held, and answering any questions the patient may have about the procedure or process. Attire will be business casual with a lab coat.

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing

• Previous experience in surgical setting preferred
• Strong background in patient assessment skills

• Current MA RN license in good standing required
• BCLS required

• Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
• Computer skills required.
