SRB

The State Reclamation and Mosquito Control Board oversees mosquito control in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts including 11 regional programs. It establishes administrative and technical policies, guidelines, and best management practices to ensure mosquito control programs are safe and effective.

Job Description

POSITION TITLE:

Seasonal Field Technician

REPORTS TO:

Entomologist/Assistant Superintendent

DESCRIPTION:

Assist with mosquito and greenhead fly trapping programs.

Essential Duties
  • Set out and retrieve mosquito traps for arbovirus surveillance and efficacy studies.
  • Assist entomologist in duties as needed.
  • Identify different species of mosquitoes after minimal training.
  • Assist in other ongoing research projects.
  • Assist with greenhead fly trapping program.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge, skills, and abilities: ability to work independently, adapt to varying work situations and to deal tactfully and establish rapport with others. Ability to give oral and written instructions in a precise and understandable manner. Ability to maintain accurate records and assemble items of information according to established procedures. Possess a valid driver’s license with clean driving record. Ability to obtain pesticide license.

Physical Requirements

Required to stand, walk, use hand and finger dexterity to handle or operate tools or controls and reach with hands. Lifting or carrying weights of up to 50 pounds. Walk distance on uneven surface. Or any equivalent education, training, and work experience to perform the essential functions of the job.
