Description
General Position SummaryIncumbents of this classification perform a wide variety of maintenance tasks and repairs to facilities utilizing knowledge and skill in at least one of the major crafts such as carpentry, masonry, sign making, plumbing, heating, electrical, Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (H.V.A.C) or pipefitter; and utilizing experience below the journeyman level in several of the other crafts.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesMaintains and repairs buildings and related structures:
Uses all standard and special tools required of primary craft and all standard tools required of other crafts as necessary to construct, alter, repair and/or install walls, stairs, floors, ceilings, windows, doors, doors, doors, doors, doors, doors, roofs, gutters, locks, air conditioners, mail slots, handicapped chair rails and ramps, shelving, etc.
Reads and interprets written instructions, diagrams and maintenance manuals.
Constructs, assembles, repairs and/or adjusts facility maintenance equipment and/or highway signs.
Maintain various Tunnel equipment:
Perform maintenance and repairs on tunnel ventilation fans in ventilation buildings; repair all types of damper and louver doors; repair and replace actuators; repair and replace pumps in tunnels.
Perform maintenance and repairs on tunnel emergency egress doors, signage and miscellaneous equipment.
Perform repairs and replace pumps for tunnel and storm water pumps.
Maintains records on such matters as work completed, timesheets, etc.
Reports under emergency conditions, such as utility breaks.
Other related duties as required.

Incumbents must have a high school diploma or GED and have at least (1) one year of facility maintenance experience.
SubstitutionGraduation from a qualified trade school in an appropriate craft may be substituted for the required experience.
Incumbents must possess a current, valid Class D vehicle operator’s license that is maintained in good standing, or an equivalent license from the state in which s/he resides.
