Our small non-profit client is seeking a Senior Accountant for their team! This full‑time, direct‑hire role will serve as the organization’s sole accounting professional, independently managing a full set of books for a mission‑driven organization in the Concord, NH community.

Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant
  • Maintain journal entries, account coding, and general ledger maintenance; review and approve entries processed by clerical support staff
  • Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fund transfers
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules
  • Prepare financial statements and budgets
  • Monitor cash flow
  • Oversee grants and regulatory compliance
  • Prepare for audits
  • Maintain internal controls
  • Administer and maintain access to banking portals, benefit platforms, and government billing systems
  • Perform additional tasks and special projects as required
Qualifications of the Senior Accountant
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field and 5+ years of progressive accounting experience (nonprofit experience preferred), or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience reviewing work performed by support staff and communicating corrections effectively
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, fund accounting, and nonprofit financial reporting
  • Experience with HUD billing, affordable housing finance, or behavioral health funding preferred
  • Working knowledge of payroll processing and payroll tax compliance
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Quick Books or similar) and Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organization
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines independently and elevate issues appropriately
  • High degree of integrity, discretion, and professional judgment
