Our small non-profit client is seeking a Senior Accountant for their team! This full‑time, direct‑hire role will serve as the organization’s sole accounting professional, independently managing a full set of books for a mission‑driven organization in the Concord, NH community.
Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant- Maintain journal entries, account coding, and general ledger maintenance; review and approve entries processed by clerical support staff
- Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fund transfers
- Maintain fixed asset schedules
- Prepare financial statements and budgets
- Monitor cash flow
- Oversee grants and regulatory compliance
- Prepare for audits
- Maintain internal controls
- Administer and maintain access to banking portals, benefit platforms, and government billing systems
- Perform additional tasks and special projects as required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field and 5+ years of progressive accounting experience (nonprofit experience preferred), or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience reviewing work performed by support staff and communicating corrections effectively
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, fund accounting, and nonprofit financial reporting
- Experience with HUD billing, affordable housing finance, or behavioral health funding preferred
- Working knowledge of payroll processing and payroll tax compliance
- Proficiency in accounting software (Quick Books or similar) and Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills
- Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organization
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines independently and elevate issues appropriately
- High degree of integrity, discretion, and professional judgment
