Controller, Accounting, Financial Compliance

Our client needs a Controller for their team! This direct-hire position will play a key role in ensuring fiscal and operational integrity of a non-profit organization.

Responsibilities of the Controller

• Supervise, coach, and mentor accounting and grants staff members
• Oversee AP, AR, payroll, journal entries, grants, and budgets
• Assist senior leadership with HR matters, insurance policies, contracts, and related tasks
• Contribute to audits
• Prepare financial statements and reports, analyze data, and assist with fiscal forecasting
• Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
• Develop, update, and communicate fiscal policies and procedures that meet organizational strategic plans and comply with regulatory requirements

Qualifications of the Controller

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, and 3-5 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Deep knowledge of cost allocation principles, GAAP, grant budgeting, and reporting
• Non-profit experience is a plus
• Demonstrated leadership, communication, and collaboration abilities
• Skills in human resource management, including recruitment, hiring, orientation, and performance evaluation
• Strong organizational, time management, and project management abilities
• Experience with grant writing, reporting, and fundraising is highly valued
• Computer proficiency with MS Office Suite (especially Excel) and client database systems
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
