Nute Middle High School

Location: Milton, New Hampshire

FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Purpose

Nute Middle High School is seeking a dynamic, hands‑on, and innovative Technology and Engineering Teacher who will lead a program that merges the foundational skills of a traditional shop class with the creative, problem‑solving elements of a STEM and makerspace environment. This teacher will play a vital role in helping students develop both technical skills and 21st‑century competencies such as critical thinking, collaboration, and innovation.

The ideal candidate will have the vision and passion to create a classroom where students engage in project‑based learning, engineering design, fabrication, and technology integration. Students will have opportunities to explore woodworking, metalworking, engineering principles, electronics, and emerging makerspace tools (e.g., 3D printing, laser cutting, robotics, and coding) while developing practical skills for both career and college pathways.

Milton School District seeks educators who maintain high expectations and who are committed to helping all students succeed through personalized and experiential learning.

  • Design and deliver engaging and rigorous instruction that blends traditional shop skills (e.g., woodworking, metalworking, basic engineering) with modern STEM and makerspace activities.
  • Develop and implement project‑based learning experiences aligned with New Hampshire Career & Technical Education, STEM, and Next Generation Science Standards.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and dynamic learning environment where students build confidence in technical skills, problem‑solving, and innovation.
  • Teach students to safely and effectively use a variety of tools and equipment, including traditional hand and power tools as well as makerspace equipment (e.g., 3D printers, electronics, and coding platforms).
  • Collaborate with colleagues across content areas to integrate STEM and engineering practices into interdisciplinary projects.
  • Manage and maintain the shop, makerspace, equipment, and inventory.
  • Promote career exploration and readiness by connecting learning to industry practices and postsecondary pathways.
  • Engage students in authentic problem‑solving, design challenges, and entrepreneurial projects.
  • Encourage community and industry partnerships to enhance student learning experiences.
  • Participate actively in school‑wide professional learning, committees, and collaborative initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Valid New Hampshire Certification as a Technology & Engineering Education Teacher.
  • Bachelor's degree in Technology Education, Engineering, Industrial Arts, STEM Education, or related field.
  • Experience teaching in a shop, technology, engineering, or STEM‑focused program preferred.
  • Knowledge of safe practices and instructional strategies for using traditional and modern fabrication tools.
  • Experience with maker space tools and technologies, including 3D printing, coding, laser cutting, or robotics, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with project‑based learning, career and technical education (CTE), and STEM integration is strongly preferred.
  • Strong classroom management, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Passion for helping students explore both traditional trades and innovative technologies.
