Position Overview
USNH Employees should apply within Workday through the Jobs Hub app. The adjunct will teach POLT 403.02 U.S. in World Affairs for the Political Science and International Affairs Department to approximately 60 undergraduate students. The adjunct faculty will deliver high‑quality instruction, emphasizing practical and theoretical aspects through innovative course design and delivery. The adjunct faculty will function as a faculty member in the Department of Political Science and International Affairs responsible for teaching, offering office hours, completing associated administrative tasks and communicating as appropriate with the Chair and staff on matters related to UNH policy or course management.
Duties/ Responsibilities
- Teaching (60%) Delivering in‑class instruction on Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:40–11:00.
- Office Hours (20%) Offering 1–2 hours per week of office hours for students to meet outside of class time.
- Miscellaneous Administrative (10%) Handling the administrative work associated with course management, including:
- Syllabus preparation
- Coordinating books/reading materials with the bookstore
- Maintaining Canvas
- Grading
- Responding to email queries from students, Department faculty and staff
- Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience Master’s degree and 2 years of professional experience; ABD or PhD in Political Science or a related discipline.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Candidate must be able to teach U.S. Foreign Policy from WWII to the present and possess a broader understanding of global politics from within that time frame. Must be comfortable interacting with students of varying backgrounds and abilities, and be able to provide appropriate guidance and support regarding coursework.
- Preferred Qualifications ABD or PhD in Political Science or one of the social sciences; teaching certification and/or experience, particularly advanced high school or college students.
Pay Range: $5,000.
