We are seeking a part-time Certified Orientation & Mobility Specialist (COMS) to help students with visual impairments develop the skills, confidence, and independence needed to navigate their schools, homes, and communities safely.

Whether you are newly certified or an experienced professional, you will join a kind, collaborative team that values your expertise and supports the meaningful work you do every day.

Your Impact As an Orientation & Mobility Specialist, you will provide individualized instruction that helps students participate more fully and independently in school and everyday life. You will:

Teach safe, effective independent travel, orientation, and mobility skills

Assess each student's strengths, needs, and learning environment

Adapt instruction using visual, auditory, tactile, and nonvisual strategies

Develop individualized goals and service plans

Collaborate with families, educators, related-service providers, and school teams

Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation

Advocate for accessibility, independence, and meaningful participation

What You'll BringA degree in Orientation and Mobility from an accredited program

Current certification-or eligibility for certification-as an Orientation & Mobility Specialist Strong knowledge of independent travel skills, mobility techniques, and adaptive instruction

The ability to individualize services for students with diverse needs

Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skillsA genuine commitment to empowering students with visual impairments
