What will you do?
The Explosives Safety Officer/ Hazardous locations Engineer, internally referred to as Ex Officer at Production will be a member of the Quality Management team of the factory and shall ensure that products certified as Explosive‑Safe, as well as the critical components used in these products, are manufactured and controlled in full compliance with Explosive‑Safe requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement production instructions (e.g. Ex-test instruction) to ensure Explosive (Ex) compliance at manufacturing
- Determine and implement incoming quality inspection control plan for Ex parts according to the Explosion specifications
- Participate in approving deviation of the defined controls to produce the Explosive‑Safe products
- Gather information about which part and which characteristic must be tested based on Explosive‑Safe requirements of the designed parts and products.
- Act as main escalation points at the factory, in the event of quality issues in production or with suppliers and drive decisions on stopping the production and issuing recalls after evaluating the risks with quality management, R&D, and the other relevant members of the Ex network at Siemens.
- Ensure that Ex-suppliers are trained to assure their ability to deliver conformal products.
- Drive cooperation with the local quality management (including Internal Auditors and Auditors of Ex-suppliers).
- Prepare an annual Ex-report as part of the local entity Quality Management Review.
What will you need to succeed?
- Bachelors/ Masters Degree in Mechanical or Electronics Engineering or equivalent experience in the field
- 3+ years’ experience as an Explosive Safety office or Consulting Engineer in Hazardous locations
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 (Certified Auditor) is mandatory
- Strong Knowledge of the current Ex-QM
- Standards (e.g. ISO/IEC 80079-34) is preferred - Knowledge of SAP will be an asset.
Salary is commensurate with experience, and ranges between $ 76,000 CAD - $ 110,000 CAD, excluding bonus and benefits. In addition to base salary, this role includes eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus of 10% of base salary, based on Company performance metrics.
