Responsibilities
- Develop commodity strategy to achieve cost savings through analysis of spend, consolidation, and localization.
- Aggressively pursue commodity strategy to secure competitive advantage and product cost leadership.
- Ensure strategy evolves with changing market conditions and risk considerations (CUSMA, Brexit).
- Execute key projects through collaboration with cross‑functional team.
- Participate in purchasing team meetings, share KPI updates, and propose continuous improvement ideas.
- Define strategic suppliers and foster relationships through regular contact and on‑site visits.
- Negotiate global supply agreements, including LTAs and rebates.
- Develop should‑cost models by product family via manufacturing process and raw material intelligence.
- Monitor supply market for pricing, commodity trends, capacity, news, and new developments.
- Identify potential new suppliers and assess capabilities.
- Maintain AVL status and support Supplier Development on audits and VAVE activities.
- Support new customer projects through timely quote submissions and cost breakdowns.
- Ensure supplier selection aligns with Approved Vendor List criteria.
- Negotiate commercial terms to achieve targets.
- Visit suppliers to assess cost, quality, efficiency, and performance.
- Apply Kaizen Lean Manufacturing principles to drive continuous improvement.
- Adhere to general procedures, IATF
16949, and ISO
14001 standards. - Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, Economics, or equivalent.
- Experience in purchasing or supply chain with strong should‑cost understanding.
- Proven negotiation techniques and automotive industry best practices.
- Experience with supplier interaction for VAVE and cost‑reduction programs.
- Knowledge of Lean concepts and operational excellence.
- Broad understanding of manufacturing processes (machining, stamping, forging, casting, plastics, electronics, fasteners).
- Familiarity with supply‑chain concepts and Incoterms.
- Self‑starter and proactive, able to engage at all employee levels in a multicultural environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication; must read, write, and speak English.
- Must possess the ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SAP.
- Familiar with IATF
16949 and ISO
14001 standards.
