Full-time vacancy for an Engineering Technician I – III.

Position Details

Pay ranges:
- Engineering Technician I: $15.93/hr–$20.80/hr
- Engineering Technician II: $17.81/hr–$23.39/hr
- Engineering Technician III: $19.96/hr–$26.41/hr
Trainee status available at $15.31/hr for eligible candidates.

Qualifications
  • Engineering Technician I: Education:
    High School diploma or high school equivalency credential.

    Experience:

    Two years as Engineering Aide, one year at a level equivalent to Engineering Aide II. Or Associate's degree with major in engineering, landscape, architecture, forestry, horticulture, environmental studies, agronomy, geology, soil science or earth science and no experience required. License/Certification:
    Valid driver's license. Other Requirements:
    Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) meets agency standards. Trainee Option:
    Candidates with equivalent combination of 1+ years of education and experience may be hired in ‘trainee status’ for this position.
  • Engineering Technician II: Education:
    High School diploma or equivalency.

    Experience:

    Three years as Engineering Aide or Engineering Technician, at least one year at a level equivalent to Engineering Technician I. Or Associate's degree with major in same fields and one year at equivalent level. License/Certification:
    Valid driver's license. Other Requirements: MVR meets agency standards. Trainee Option:
    Not applicable.
  • Engineering Technician III: Education:
    Associate's degree with major in same fields.

    Experience:

    Three years as Engineering Aide or Technician, two years at a level equivalent to Engineering Technician II. License/Certification:
    Valid driver's license. Other Requirements: MVR meets agency standards. Trainee Option:
    Not applicable.
Responsibilities Engineering Technician I

Assists in the technical permitting review and prepares related correspondence and communications for various Department programs.

Assists in researching highway plans and related legal documents to provide data to internal and external customers.

Assists in the technical review for driveway, utility and district construction projects.

Researches pre-construction technical data including survey, right of way, estimates, engineering drawings, materials list and specifications to enable the construction/reconstruction of State highways and maintenance facilities.

Coordinates various programs within the district including, but not limited to, Sponsor A Highway, hazard tree, and the district’s tree removal program.

Assists with managing the district’s seasonal weight restriction program. Conducts field reviews as necessary to ensure appropriate management of the program.

Performs work in full conformance with all risk management, safety, and environmental standards, regulations, and administrative orders.

Engineering Technician II

Provides technical permitting review with related correspondence and communications for various Department programs.

Maintains and researches highway plans and related legal documents to provide data to internal and external customers.

Provides technical review for driveway, utility and district construction projects to ensure specification compliance.

Researches pre-construction technical data including survey, right of way, estimates, engineering drawings, materials list and specifications to enable the construction/reconstruction of State highways and maintenance facilities.
