Optical Inspection Technician

Celgard is a leading global developer of high-performance membrane technology used in a broad range of energy storage applications. Celgard manufactures membrane battery separators critical for lithium‑ion batteries used in electric drive vehicles and energy storage systems.
We are seeking an Optical Inspection Technician to join our Quality team in Concord. Optical inspection is integral to manufacturing and is used to monitor and control upstream processes of extrusion and lamination.
Responsibilities- Develop quality test procedures, SOPs, and SOCs for FSM Optical Systems and keep them updated.
- Offer training of floor optical support technicians, including new support techs and new or changed procedures to current support techs.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting beyond the troubleshooting guide as necessary, which may require after‑hours support.
- Maintain optical inspection systems through routine maintenance, calibration, alignment checks, and detection testing.
- Create optical inspection settings for development film.
- Analyze data (e.g., pivot tables and charts) and collaborate with Process Engineers on process monitoring improvement activities.
- Periodically review the optical inspection records database to ensure proper data entry and make corrections as needed.
- Perform quality investigations using archived optical inspection data, interpret results, and provide information on causes and recommendations for solutions.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. A degree in engineering, engineering technology, electronics, or IT preferred. Associate’s in Applied Science in engineering or technology is preferred.

Experience:
Required. Experience as an electrician or electronic technician with proven troubleshooting skills preferred. - Technical
Skills:
Experience using multimeters; reading schematics; writing training documents and operating procedures using Microsoft Word; analyzing data using pivot tables and charts in Microsoft Excel;
Visual Studio programming knowledge preferred. - Optical Inspection
Experience:
3+ years with optical inspection systems preferred. - Attributes: Detail oriented in creating or verifying procedures; ability to work individually; strong writing skills.
Must be able and willing to travel up to 10% domestically and abroad for training and visiting other company locations.
Working EnvironmentThis position is in a manufacturing plant setting that requires working in a production environment around chemicals. The role requires standing and walking for up to 80% of the time, adequate lighting and temperature, and may require lifting up to 35 pounds or using force to push, pull or otherwise move objects.
