Project Controls Scheduler Overview
TRS Staffing Solutions is seeking a Project Controls Scheduler to support capital engineering and industrial projects within a dynamic project execution environment.
This is a high-visibility opportunity for an experienced scheduling professional who enjoys transforming complex project data into actionable plans, identifying risks before they become issues, and helping project teams stay aligned with critical milestones and delivery objectives.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience supporting engineering, procurement, and construction projects within the oil & gas, refinery, petrochemical, or industrial sectors and possess strong expertise in Primavera P6 scheduling and project controls best practices.
Key Responsibilities Project Scheduling & Controls- Develop, maintain, and update fully resourced, logic-driven project schedules using Primavera P6.
- Establish baseline schedules through Interactive Planning (IAP) sessions and stakeholder collaboration.
- Monitor project progress against approved schedules and performance targets.
- Track project milestones and support forecasting activities.
- Ensure schedules accurately reflect engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and project delivery activities.
- Identify schedule risks, constraints, and critical path impacts.
- Provide early warning notifications and recommend recovery plans when schedule deviations occur.
- Conduct schedule performance analysis and trend reporting.
- Lead schedule risk assessments and planning workshops.
- Support proactive project decision-making through schedule forecasting and scenario analysis.
- Prepare project controls reports and schedule updates for project teams and leadership.
- Generate:
- KPI reports
- S-Curves
- Resource histograms
- Progress reports
- Schedule variance analyses
- Present schedule data and project status information to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary scheduling resource for:
- Project Managers
- Engineering teams
- Procurement professionals
- Clients
- Vendors
- Contractors
- Facilitate project controls meetings related to schedule performance and progress tracking.
- Ensure alignment between project execution plans and schedule deliverables.
- Support project change management processes and schedule impact evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with project controls standards and client requirements.
- Capture and implement lessons learned.
- Promote project controls best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Minimum 8+ years of scheduling and/or project controls experience.
- Minimum 3+ years supporting engineering projects within:
- Oil & Gas
- Refining
- Petrochemical
- Energy
- Heavy Industrial environments
- Advanced proficiency with Primavera P6.
- Experience developing and maintaining integrated project schedules.
- Strong understanding of:
- Engineering deliverables
- Procurement activities
- Permitting processes
- Construction execution
- Commissioning activities
- Stage-gate project delivery processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interpret and present complex project data to diverse audiences.
- Strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in schedule-driven project environments.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Bachelor's Degree in:
- Engineering
- Construction Management
- Project Management
- Related Technical Discipline
- PSP (Planning & Scheduling Professional)
- PMP (Project Management Professional)
- AACE International Certifications
- Experience serving in a senior or lead scheduler role.
- Experience supporting capital engineering projects.
- Refinery and industrial project experience strongly preferred.
- EPC/EPCM project experience highly desirable.
- Flexible work arrangement available.
- Remote candidates will be considered.
- Hybrid schedule may be available depending on location and project requirements.
- Every other Friday off.
- Collaboration with project teams and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Local travel to project sites and client meetings as needed.
- Approximately one day per week may be required for project meetings.
- Less than 10% overnight travel.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a TWIC Card.
- Ability to obtain required site-specific safety certifications and badges.
- HHFT Safety Training certification or ability to obtain.
- Successful completion of background screening.
- Participation in federally mandated drug and alcohol testing programs.
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
