MVSB is seeking an experienced Residential Underwriter, Level 3 to join our Residential Lending team, based in New Hampshire. This role is ideal for someone who brings strong residential mortgage underwriting experience, sound judgment, and a commitment to providing thoughtful, responsive support to customers, lending partners, and teammates.
In this role, you will review and underwrite residential mortgage loan applications, including more complex files and government loan programs, while ensuring decisions align with bank policies, regulatory requirements, and secondary-market guidelines.

What You’ll Do- Underwrite residential mortgage loan requests within lending authority, including credit, income, asset, collateral, and documentation review.
- Analyze loan files, identify potential risks or policy exceptions, and make clear recommendations when additional review is needed.
- Provide timely underwriting decisions and help keep loan files moving toward commitment and closing deadlines.
- Apply bank, investor, secondary-market, mortgage insurance, and government lending guidelines accurately and consistently.
- Partner with loan originators, processing, servicing, and other team members to answer questions, resolve issues, and support a positive customer experience.
- Serve as a senior underwriting resource by sharing knowledge, supporting less experienced team members, and staying current on industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate loan data and complete all required compliance training within the scope of the role.
- 5–10 years of current mortgage underwriting experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Strong knowledge of residential mortgage products, documentation requirements, and secondary-market lending guidelines.
- Experience with government loan programs; DE/SAR certifications are required.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Comfort using loan processing systems, Microsoft Excel, and standard desktop applications.
